Micro Pod Sport-SL: Key Features
The Micro Pod Sport-SL is different from any other race logger on the market. The Micro Pod Sport-SL is the only race logger to use color graphics to display vital information to the driver. Along with color graphics it has eight dual color LED shift lights, the ability to replay a logged file directly on the unit without having to download it to the PC, uses GPS for track mapping, ability to calibrate sensors on the unit, 1 GB of data logging ability, and easy download technology (USB memory stick). With exceptional features such as these we can't imagine anyone wanting to use the other guys. Below are details about these key features.
Color Graphics Display:
A color graphics LCD means that we are able to display the instrumentation and sensor data graphically which makes it easier for the driver and crew to see it and make quick use of it. Since we use an operating system to create our graphics we have the ability to set up the display any way we want. Our LCD display is a high resolution TFT screen that has amazing color and contrast. Other companies use old STN monochromatic displays that only display one screen with simple fixed digits or a simple bar graph in a single shade. The Micro Pod Sport-SL also features a full touch so navigating the different screens is easy. A touch screen means that you can select different objects with the touch of your finger and not have to take the unit out of your vehicle and hook it up to a PC. After you try our unit you will agree that color graphics makes all the difference in the world. 3.5 in. Sunlight Readable, Transflective TFT Color Graphics Touch Screen Display

Warning Screens:
Imagine a race logger that warns you of a potential problem with your car. Warning screens appear when preset warning levels have been crossed. These warning screens are extremely visible so that the driver can easily see them. |
Initial Warning Screen:
The initial warning screen flashes the troubled sensor red when the initial warning level has been crossed. The initial warning level is the level at which you want to be alerted to a potential problem.

Sensor Screens:
The sensor screens visibly allow you to view the value of sensors and provide calibration options for common sensors. For less common sensors, there are generic sensor screens that you can assign to any sensor you choose. These sensor screens can be used in the pits to help you set up a car, on the track to help make car adjustments such as the brakes, or in replay mode to see how the car was functioning. Below are examples of both common and generic sensor screens. You can also see that there are on screen instructions to help you calibrate the sensors on the car. |

Race Replay:
Exclusively at RLC! Don't have a PC handy to download your data? Playback your entire race right on your unit! When a PC is not available or you don't want to drag it to the track, you can playback any logged session on your unit. The race replay mode shows everything the car was doing while out on the track. You will see the RPM, speed, pressures, and temperatures going up and down exactly as they were when you were running the car. You can also navigate to the sensor screens and watch sensor data going up and down as well. If you were having problems with your car, race replay is a great tool to figure out when and where your car started to have them. |

| When the unit is in replay mode there is a control panel in the upper left hand corner that allows you to fast forward, rewind, or pause the file being replayed. There is also a replay information screen that appears in the sensor screen that is only available while the unit is in replay. This screen gives an overview of what the car is doing, braking, accelerating, turning, or G-force. |

GPS:
R.L.C. uses GPS for lap timing, track mapping, predictive lap timing, and split lap timing. GPS is the most accurate way to map a track . You can map a track with accuracy to within inches unlike G-Force which can be off as much as 30 ft! Using GPS for lap, predictive, and split lap timing eliminates the need for expensive and bulky beacons. The Micro Pod Sport-SL is GPS ready, simply plug in the GPS module and you're on your way to exact, accurate track mapping, precise lap timing, and predictive and sector timing. |
| High resolution 10 and 20 Hz. GPS position systems are used to precisely log all sensor data right along with exact position information. Unlike older G-force track mapping. R.L.C. Exact Track is the only position mapping system that puts your car in the exact line of the race track along with all sensors data exactly where it is supposed to be allowing analysis to be done without guess work or computer averaging like all other systems. |

Synchronized Video: R.L.C. is working closely with Chase Cam to produce the only truly synchronized video. Data is actually embedded in the video file so when you play back your race on our PC software your data directly corresponds to the exact position on the track. When you press play or click on any place on the track, your video will jump to that exact place and be right on. Other companies advertise that they have video, but what they're not telling you is that they overlay the data or have you press play at the same time. Often times you are playing the wrong video file or the video is off by several seconds, your data will have you on a turn and your video shows you on a straigh away. By working directly with Chase Cam, R.L.C. is ensuring that our video will truly be synchronized and the data will directly correspond to your data. |
| Never again forget to press the record button or run out of space on your memory card because you are recording while you are in the hot pits. The Chase Cam is controlled and directly plugged into the Micro Pod Sport-SL. You decide when to turn on the camera or when to turn it off by setting video preferences on the Micro Pod Sport-SL. You can also make it so you never miss recording a race. You simply set the camera so that if the memory card is full, you record over the last file. Video files are automatically time and date stamped to match the data files on the Micro Pod Sport-SL. |

Shift Lights:
Having eight (8) dual color shift lights on the Micro Pod Sport-SL is like having 16 shift lights! Other companies only offer a couple of single colored lights or they only offer LED add-on boxes that use up their digital outputs and add additional cost. The shift lights on the Micro Pod Sport-SL are built in and standard. Our shift lights also have the ability to be dimmed to your visual preference. This makes them ideal for nighttime use. No other company offers this feature. Also having more will give a more precise visual aid when driving. We use a proven and tested user programmable shift pattern that makes it easy to know when to shift.

User Programmable Limits And Scale
Data Logging:
The Micro Pod Sport-SL comes with one (1) Gigabyte of standard on-board nonvolatile FLASH memory to store dozens and dozens of tracks sessions. That could be an entire racing season logged on your Micro Pod Sport-SL units without writing over any existing file! Other systems run out of memory quickly if sample rates are too high, and must always be downloaded after each session or data is lost forever. Each session that has been logged on the Micro Pod Sport-SL can be selected and played back at any time right on the unit itself. This means you do not need a PC and you do not have to wait to analyze a track session. No other system can do this and we are very proud of this powerful playback feature. All engine vitals as well as all other inputs can be logged. Each input channel can be logged at any of the selectable sample rates. The Micro Pod Sport-SL automatically over samples by two times and averages the data to get extremely accurate results. This feature guarantees you data that is more accurate than any other system on the market. The CAN data as well as the GPS data is logged.

Connectivity:
Downloading the data from the Micro Pod Sport-SL onto a PC is fast! You can use a USB FLASH memory stick with a transfer rate of 2.4 Mb/sec, that's 2.5x faster than our competitors. You can individually plug in a mouse, keyboard or a FLASH Drive or you can use an USB External Hub so that you can connect to them all at the same time. Or a simple USB Client to Host cable will connect the unit directly to a PC. Other companies force you to purchase a custom USB to CAN adapter and claim to offer USB. The special adapter will cost you several hundred dollars and make sure you don't lose it because a standard cable will not work. You can also use the RS-232 serial ports to download the data and has selectable baud rates up to 115 K Baud. The serial ports can be used for connecting to GPS systems and synchronized video. The Ethernet port is used to plug into a modem for telemetry. The CAN bus can be used to interface most popular ECUs and can operate up to 1 Mb/sec.

Wiring Harness:
The wiring harness for the Micro Pod Sport-SL has been designed for quick installation. It is devided into two parts, the signal portion and the connectivity portion. The signal portion has each individual signal arranged in a grouping that consists of the power, ground, and signal. Every analog input, digital input, and digital output is arranged this way so you can quickly and easily hook up the grouping to the appropriate sensor. Sensor drawings are available in the Tech Support section of the web site. The other portion of the wiring harness consits of all the connectivity that you need to download your sessions to a USB flash stick, connect to your PC, connect to the GPS and video camera, and connect to a modem for Telemetry. The connectors are industry standard so there are no special cables needed to connect to the Micro Pod Sport-SL.
There are three levels of wiring harnesses and any level of wiring harness can be used with any level of Micro Pod. The difference between the wiring harnesses is the number of analog inputs. Everything is interchangeable
but the functionality (number of analog inputs) is limited by the level of wiring harness you have in the car and
the level of the dash display. For example, if you have the Micro Pod Extreme and you plug it into a Micro Pod Sport level
wiring harness, you will be limited to 12 analog inputs.
All Channels Bound Together in Groupings
Each Grouping Includes the Power, Ground, and Signal Needed to Hook Up to a Sensor
Groupings Allow For Quick Installation and Easy Routing
All Connectors are Industry Standard So No Special Wires Required
